The World’s First Carbon Neutral Blockchain

"Blockchain..? that Bitcoin thing… doesn’t that use ridiculous amounts of energy and is really bad for the environment? "
Well partly… Yes Bitcoin uses huge amounts of electricity and is extremely wasteful… Blockchain on the other hand has evolved past it’s 1st generation solutions.
It is no longer acceptable nor necessary to drain the planets energy to power a blockchain. It’s time to move onto more sustainable and permanent solutions and leave the past behind us. The general public and the planet do not care about your ideological attachments to the past.
EOS at its core is designed to be efficient and along with this efficiency comes the byproduct of creating the world’s first carbon neutral blockchain.
What makes EOS so energy efficient?
Unlike Bitcoin, EOS is a third generation blockchain. It is based on Delegated Proof of Stake consensus algorithm (DPoS) which greatly reduces the amount of energy required to power the network. As you can see from the statistics below…
Block Producer EOS Authority has been at the forefront of this movement with their initiative to make EOS the first carbon neutral blockchain. Below are the steps taken to reach this achievement along with some more impressive statistics.
A huge thanks firstly goes to EOS Authority for starting this initiative and secondly to all block producers who came together as a community to bring this plan to life. It is collaborations like these which will help move EOS and cryptocurrency in general into the lives and use cases of everyday people.
